Yamaha_Royal_Star_MY_OPINION

I am 45 years old and have been riding since I was 12. I have owned many bikes. Several Yamahas and even 2 Harleys. My last bist bike was a 1992 Yamaha Venture Royale. I just picked up my 2006 white Tour Delux. What an absolute dream. I forgot what seeing the road was like, sitting behind the fairing of my Venture (a full dressor). This is an excellent machine. The price, the ride, the flexibility, the 5 year warranty, the 5.9% financing from Yamah... I wouldn't have bought anything else. Get yourself one. You WILL NOT regret buying thisbike.

Well can not give to much input since I've only gone 20 miles, betweeen hurricanes and rain. But so far I am very impressed with bike. A little heavier than my last bike, the Hurricane 600 lol. But has a very smooth ride. I like the cruise control and detachable windshiled and back rest. Will have more input as the miles roll on

Yamaha_Royal_Star_MY_OPINION

I bought the 2005 Royal Star Tour Deluxe sight unseen from the Yamaha dealer after seeing it on the web and reading the reviews. I had to wait 3 weeks for the delivery and it was one of three delivered to Ontario in August. By the way my serial number is 13. (That means it's one of the first of it's kind). The bike is much more than I imagined. The ride is awesome, its power supply is more than adequate and super smooth. Like in the introduction, I'm 6'2" and I am very comfortable in the saddle of the Royal Star. My wife(who rides shotgun) finds it has way more room and a higher comfort level than our previous bike, a Suzuki Intruder which treated us very fair but the Royal Star is in a totally different class. Fuel consumption ranges from 45 to 50 miles per gallon. I bought the bike August 17, 2004 and I already have 1500 miles on it and that was with a 2 week break from riding. It handles like a dream and makes riding a desire. Like the fella in the other review said that it's a real head turner, he's absolutely right. Remove the windshield and the back rest in under a minute and you have a totally different looking machine... real cool idea. I could go on about the features and on other topics to mention but go and find out for yourselves... you'll be pleasantly surprised. Yes I would recommend this bike to anyone looking for a convertible cruiser/tourer. Yamaha quality along with the 5 year warranty, what else can I say... super job Yamaha!

Yamaha_Royal_Star_MY_OPINION

This the 1st motorcycle that we owned. We thought it was a little big for us, but it turned out to be wonderful. We ride every weekend and everyday that we can. It is an excellant bike for us. The ride, the comfort, the performance is just perfect.

Yamaha_Royal_Star_MY_OPINION

After owning an '87 Venture Royal Star for 5 years I was already familiar with the rock solid performance and reliability of the 1300 V4 motor. We had zero problems with the bike, but were looking to upgrade. I talked to my local dealer who showed me a picture of the new model and was sold on the spot. Picked up the bike the week after the Sturgis Rally and haven't stopped riding since!! The lower center of gravity and ride improvements are one of the big features. Power is adequate for the heavier bike and the looks are top notch. I have had nothing but compliments on its looks, sound and overall quality. Have added a few accessories with more to come!! Excellent ride rivals many other comparable bikes, even the US made.

Yamaha_Royal_Star_MY_OPINION

I just picked up a new 2005 Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe yesterday. Compared to the Harleys I have had in the past (including a SuperGlide, Softail, and Electra Glide Classic), I have to say the Yamaha is hands down the winner. The fit, finish, and attention to detail is perfect. The feel of the motorcycle is well balanced. Lest it start to sound like a dull BMW, it is not. The bike is great (so far). When you add in the 5-year, unlimited mileage warranty, I believe the Yamaha wins this class of motorcycle. No competition.

Yamaha_Royal_Star_MY_OPINION

I have had my '05 Tour Deluxe for about 2 months now and I'm very impressed with this bike. I traded in a '99 Royal Star Blvd and the performance and handling improvements are very noticeable. After I had the 1st maintenance done, I started to crack the throttle a little bit and this bike came alive. Great balance, improved power and awesome style. Great bike so far.

Yamaha_Royal_Star_MY_OPINION

I HAVE OWNED MANY BIKES, FROM SPORT BIKES TO GOLDWINGS. I'VE HAD 2 CBX'S AND MANY MORE. THE LAST WAS AN '04 ROADSTAR MIDNITE SILVERADO WHICH I PUT 10K MILES ON IN 10 MONTHS. ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO I GOT THE ITCH FOR SOMETHING NEW (AS I DO EVERY YEAR OR SO). I LOOKED AT HONDA AND THEY ARE STILL MAKING THE SAME OLD STUFF! I WENT BACK TO THE YAMAHA SHOP AND SAW THE ROYAL STAR TOUR DELUXE. THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST RIDES I HAVE EVER HAD. GREAT BALANCE AND HANDLING, PERFECT PAINT, GREAT FIT AND FINISH AND PLENTY OF HUEVOS!! AND BEST OF ALL THE PRICE. LOOK OUT HEAR COMES YAMAHA!

Yamaha_Royal_Star_MY_OPINION

Everytime I ride, my first review is confirmed. We've put over 1300 miles on it now and have enjoyed every minute of it! I've since joined Star Touring and Riding Association which entitles me to even more discounts on my bolt-ons! I love it!

Yamaha_Royal_Star_MY_OPINION

I fell in love with the Tour Deluxe at my local dealer. I rode my Kawasaki Concours by the dealership a half dozen times. Each time I saw the red and black monster, it became more apparent that comfort, not performance, was what I needed. After trading in the Concours, I have not been dissapointed with the comfort of the Tour Deluxe. I have been somewhat unimpressed with the bike's performance though. It is underpowered. There is no other way to explain it. The bike needs about 20 more horses. The other complaint is gas mileage. This bike is a gas hog. It sucks gasoline on par with most cars. That is unfortunate... especially since the bike couldn't outrun most of the similarly powered cars on the road. Somehow, Yamaha missed the boat in this category. But for long rides it is comfortable, but somewhat noisy. I let my son ride the bike yesterday past my house and I could hear the gear whine when he went by. This noise is also a bit bothersome when riding the bike. Overall, I like the bike, but find myself visiting the local Yamaha dealer again. This time I'm looking at my old Concours... trying to decide how to buy it back before someone else gets it. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't give up the Tour Deluxe for the Concours, but I miss the performance, the sound, and the excitement of the Kawasaki... something missing in the Yamaha that needs to be put back.

Yamaha_Royal_Star_MY_OPINION

At age 56 this is my very first motorcycle. I did a lot of comparing with Harley-Davidson and the other V-Twins in the Yamaha Star line. The Royal Star really is in a class by itself. Where can you get the cruiser look and feel, but with something more technologically advanced than an air cooled, chain drive, V-twin? The Royal looks great to the right half of my brain, but my left brain knows it's a smoother more technologically advanced V-4, liquid cooled, shaft driven, and about 6K less than a Harley. It has the look and feel and "attitude" of a V-Twin, but with the advantages I've listed above. Today I reached 1,100 miles and have loved every mile. One reviewer complained about the power, but you must realize the V-4 gets its power at higher revs than a V-Twin (which has more of its power at lower revs). 3rd gear takes you easily up to 60mph, and you still have 2 more gears to take you to the stratosphere if you want. My experience is the bike has all the power you need if you just gear down appropriately and let it rev. Handling. The Royal is a heavy bike. It passes through a semi truck's air wash on the freeway like it was nothing. It's firmly planted on the road and you just feel like you're on something substantial. HOWEVER, it handles as if it's much lighter and smaller. I don't feel like I'm on a monster when it's going through curves... it handles them beautifully. Parking lots are still a little bit of a challenge, but I'm getting used to it. I need to do more practicing of Jerry Paladino's "Ride Like a Pro" excercises. Comfort: this is my first bike and I've ridden twice to Sacramento from Fremont (250 miles round trip) and I don't even feel it at the end of the day. Also, I didn't think too much of it when I bought it, but it comes standard with cruise control. After these two Sacramento runs, I can't imaging having a cruiser without "cruise" control. It makes the ride much more comfortable and relaxing. Quality: the only issue I'm aware of with the Royal is something called a "clutch whine". The bike runs fine, but many owners (not all) report theirs have this "whine" sound. Many have had it fixed under warranty. Many report having no problem with it at all. Mine?... I can hear a whine but it's not bad enough to concern me. Overall I highly recommend the Royal Star. By the way, it comes in two color choices: Raven & Rasberry or Raven & Charcoal... they say the red one is faster!!!

Just completed 1200 miles on bike. This is a great bike. Very comfortable and smooth. I really like the ability to change the look and feel of the bike in no time at all(ie windshield removal). After the first service I started to use the v-4 revs alittle more. This bike has plenty of power if you need it. It's not a v-twin so you have to learn to let it rev. Totally smoked my friends Road King in 30 to 40 mph roll-ons, but a V-Max it is not. I'm sure the bike will not be perfect for everyone, but if you want a comfortable and reliable big cruiser this is it. I looked at a Road King Std, Electra glide Std, and a Nomad before I bought the RSTD. The bike is heavy which took alittle getting used to, but within 1 week I was very comfortable. My other bike is a Vulcan 750---I must be a sucker for old school revving power as both motors were developed in the mid 80's. The 5 year unlimited mile warranty with roadside assistance was frosting on the cake. Disclaimer: Your mileage may vary. 45-50 mpg at easy does it Overdrive (5th gear) or 30-35 mpg using old school V-4 revs. Personally I like to be able to make that choice.

For my 50th birthday my wife got me a 1996 Virago 1100. Lots of fun. The next year i upgraded to a 2001 Royalstar Tour Deluxe. LOVED it, and my wife liked the room and ride. Then Yamaha came out with '05 Tour deluxe...WOW. I don't know how they did it, but along with the extra power, cruise control, removable windshield and backrest, they made it 100% more agile and fun to ride. When I was invited to go in for a test ride, I told my wife that unless I was blown away by the bike, I would be keeping my '01...when I got back , she asked me how it was and all all I could say was WHOOOOOOOA, she new the trade was on. 1 hr. later my dream had come true.

Yamaha_Royal_Star_MY_OPINION

This is by far the best ride I have ever owned. I have always loved the cruiser style but wanted a full touring ride, now I have both. This bike is smooth, plenty of power and very managable in the twisties for a heavy cruiser. After 1200 miles all I can say this is the best buy on the market for a heavy cruiser. And you can not forget that awsome 5 year warranty and road side assistance that comes standard with this bike!

Yamaha_Royal_Star_MY_OPINION

After two years of research and test riding bikes I believe the Yamaha Royal Star Venture is the best bang for the buck touring cruiser for two up riding. Even with rubber mounts, the Harleys (Ultra Classic, Classic, Road Glide and Road King) still shake and roast the passengers legs. They are also too expensive when compared to metric bikes. The BMW K1200 LT is a nice ride, but the engine must be spun up for power and the styling is a little quircky. The Honda Goldwing is an awsome motorcycle with a great engine but cost $3000.00 more that the Venture similarly equipped and is just not a cruiser. The Royal Star Venture does it all with looks, power, cruiser riding comfort and just enough noise to be pleasant but not annoying IMHO. In addition to that, you get a 5 year unlimited milage warranty which includes roadside assistance. No other bike comes with such a warranty accept the new Yamaha Royal Star Deluxe. I picked up my new Midnight Venture yesterday and am in love already. I will provide a follow up review after some more miles.

Yamaha_Royal_Star_MY_OPINION

I purchased my Midnight last April. My wife and I rode to Star Days and had no complaints. A few members of our Star chapter 266 which are shorter in height, have put lowering kits on theirs. But mine is perfect the way it is.

Yamaha_Royal_Star_MY_OPINION

This bike has all the features of a Gold Wing for less money. It also has the features of the Harley Ultra Classic, without the annoying vibration, for MUCH less money. Rides like a dream, balance is uncanny, and the comfort is amazing!

Yamaha_Royal_Star_MY_OPINION

After much research last year, I bought an 04' RSMV and was completely satisfied with it. My only complaint was its high center of gravity which is easy to get accustomed to when you expect it. It continually drew compliments on its looks and when I kept up with my friends 04' Screaming Eagle Road King (w/103CI engine) it turned the heads of those who appreciate performance. I had to sell my O4' last month (job related) and I've done more research on which Ride I would get next, when my job situation levels out, and I've decided it'll be another RSV, Silver this time!

Yamaha_Royal_Star_MY_OPINION

I have been riding since the mid 60's and have owned or ridden everything from Goldwings to early model 105 Honda Dreams and my Yamaha Venture Millennium puts them all to shame in my book. I can ride 500-600 miles in a day and still feel like I could go again when I get home. Goldwings are nice but I still like a motorcycle that looks like a motorcycle so the Venture fits me like spandex. I own a 2003 1100 V-Star and when I bought my Venture 6 months ago I intended to ride the 1100 on local rides and to work but I can't seem to pry myself off of the Venture so now I am selling the 1100. I likely own the last bike that I will have in my lifetime so, please, when I die, I hope that they bury me upright on my Venture.

Yamaha_Royal_Star_MY_OPINION

For the past seven years, I've had nothing but Goldwings (4 to be exact...all brand new). I got tired of the recent recalls (two alone for frame welding), so I decided to try something new. WOW!! Not only does this thing look more like a real motorcycle, but it rides like a true touring machine !! And the savings on standard items compared to a goldwind saved me a small fortune !! I'll never look back. I'm one happy camper.
