In my opinion every major player makes a good bike today. Yes there are those few that have problems but that’s why we have warranties and there are good dealers and bad ones. I spent almost 3 years researching and riding other bikes before buying my 2002 Silverado. This bike and any modern cruiser owe their existence to H-D for both H-D’s good and bad points. I have ridden many other bikes and have found my Roadie to have the best balance between ride, handling and performance of any. I put a lot of miles on this bike and it has never let me down. The bike just seems to have that look, hard to explain but one that many riders of other bikes seem to like. You can customize these bikes and make them perform on par with any custom bike and there is a large selection of after market parts. I tell my H-d buddies that this is the bike that Harley once was and should be. A great all around bike, the average working mans bike, affordable, reliable, and a blast to ride. So for you folks out there reading this, bikers or posers, you don’t have to like my bike or the others posted here as long as you like the one you ride. Uncle Bob a good bike today. I looked at several bikes before I chose the Warrior. I looked at the Big Dog Mastiff(too expensive but very BAD ASS!), the Harley Davidson Softail Deuce (too expensive after the many upgrades I wanted), and the Yamaha YZF-R1 (I'm getting too old for that crowd but I sure love that bike!). Then I found the best of both worlds: The 2005 Road Star Warrior. It's a cruiser with a great engine, super sport technology (frame, breaks, etc.), and custom styling straight from Yamaha. The bike looks awesome (Black & Cherry w/ Flames), is very comfortable, and handles like a champ. You just "think" turn and this bike cuts around the corner (keep your heels up!). I've read many reviews of past years' models and many mention the "clamshell" rider posture and the "parachute" shape of the riders arms for the wide bars being uncomfortable. I just picked mine up 2 days ago and have only put 135 miles on it, but I haven't been uncomfortable at all. In fact I love the way it feels in the saddle and I'm glad I kept the stock bars. It feels right with the wide grip and your feet out front, very nice (mean and sporty)! My buddy has a CFL West Coast Chopper (Revtec 100 cubic inch @ 100Hp) and he used to just leave me in the dust on my '98 Virago 1100. However, with my new 102 cubic inch EFI V-twin, I hang right there with him. If you want a comfortable upright cruiser with serious good looks and can perform like a super sport bike, go check out the RS Warrior. You'll love the big back tire, LED taillight, and 1670 CC motor!

Yamaha_Road_Star_MY_OPINION

Well, I've had the RS Warrior for three weeks now and I've already put 850 miles on it. The more I drive it, the more I love this bike. I know I lowered my comfort score from 5 to 4 mainly to make the rating a little more realistic. I'm very satisfied with the way it rides, handles, and feels, however, I have yet to get my wife to ride on the back. The rear foot pegs need to be lower and farther forward. The passenger on the Warrior is positioned like a passenger on a Super Sport bike. Then again my wife is spoiled and misses her sissy bar. If you want to hear this bike run, you're going to need to change the pipe. The HUGE pipe it comes with is throaty but not very loud. In my opinion the stock exhaust makes the bike heavy and too quiet. Loud pipes save lives. The Warrior is one mean looking machine!

Yamaha_Road_Star_MY_OPINION

I've managed to log a lot more miles on her, and she only gets better and better. I have taken her through the twisties in upstate NY, and she can definitely hold her own (though, if you're coming off a sport bike, the lean angle isn't as steep. Get used to lifting your heels, as they touchdown first). The compliments have been abundant. She will easily smoke any stock Harley (except the v-rod... though, if you put in the money, you could upgrade to the speedstar components, and then smoke the v-rod, with about $3k leftover). The stock exhaust sounds great, albeit a little quiet at low rpms (not that it gets incredibly loud at higher rpms either but, even though it's not that loud, the note is so deep it still sets off car alarms). I still will most likely switch to a v&h pipe soon. Another key benefit, you don't see one parked on every corner.

Yamaha_Road_Star_MY_OPINION

First off, I have not been riding in 20+ years. I just completed a Riders Edge Safety course, last month (highly recommended) and almost bought an H-D 1200 Sportster. But I got a great deal on the Warrior and the rest is history. Plenty of power in reserve, plenty of torque, very maneuverable for the size of this beast. The sound is not loud but a deep baritone growl, which just brings a smile to my face. Looks aggressive and has gotten plenty of compliments from old and young alike. At first this bike intimidated me, but with some time patience, practice in the parking lot and 900 miles later, I am just thrilled I purchased this ride. Your skills will grow for a long time and the ride just keeps getting better on this brute. This is not a beginner bike by any means, but is an excellent choice if you are looking for a true Power Cruiser. Did I mention it just looks COOL?

Yamaha_Road_Star_MY_OPINION

Now that I have experienced the Road Star 1700, I feel that the consumer should hear about the defects that come with this bike. Though my riding experience says the bike handles very well, it has the torque to get up to speed when needed and the bike is very appealing to the eye. Now when you take a close look at the bike when it is 4 months old, you will find the certain flaws that may not be mentioned when you purchased it. Take a look at the shifter pedal on the inside, closes to the motor, take a look under the brake pedal, take a very close look at all the welds and you will find that the rust is now coming through, even the stainless steel forks have signs of rust penetrating through its polish. I have brought this to the dealers attention during both services and have yet to get resolution. Keep in mind that I do keep this bike in a climate controlled garage and it has only seen rain once. I clean and polish it every week in accordance with the owners manual. Now when riding this bike you will notice a very disturbing sound when going over bumps, this noise is coming from the rear wheel area, possibly the belt guard, however the dealer claims they cannot duplicate this sound. When you get your Yamaha catalog, it is sometimes confusing as to whether these custom parts will fit or need additional parts to mount (back rest, light bars). The sales clerk was definitely lacking the knowledge. Keep in mind when you buy these special order parts, you own them (no refund for incorrect parts) because this is what you ordered! The high performance parts are still back ordered I'm told (3 months). When you take your bike in for service, there is a lot of confusion as to what the service should include such as valve clearance and adjustment. Should it be 600 miles, six months, 16,000 miles. Who really knows? Unfortunately my neighbor bought his bike the same week as me, and now he is experiencing the same problems. Safe Riding to All.

Yamaha_Road_Star_MY_OPINION

If you're looking for that escapism on a bike, the warrior will not let you down. Comfort, power, and sexy style. I have not stopped smiling when riding this bike. H-D riders stare to figure out what it is as I fly by them. I could have paid for an H-D but after riding the Warrior I know I made the right decision. One of the best compliments I have heard so far has come from the owner of V-Twin, "it's like Yamaha caught a punt and ran it back to the end zone 4 times in one game", that was awesome. I keep riding and keep on smiling. Compliments to the chef.

Yamaha_Road_Star_MY_OPINION

I bought my Warrior in February & get nothing but compliments on it!! The bike is very fast in its stock form, but even faster with the speedstar kit. The only disappointment was that it took six months to get all the components together & Yamaha could still not give me a date on the camshaft!! I wound up getting the cam, pushrods, and lifters. THE BIKE IS AWESOME FAST!

Yamaha_Road_Star_MY_OPINION

This is my first cruiser in several years. In reality, this is a power cruiser that has some big grunt. Coming off a sport bike I still wanted something exciting to ride. The Warrior is more than I expected and it gets better everyday. The torque is massive, comfort is adequate, looks are super. I was looking at the Kawasaki Mean Streak at first but one look at the Warrior and it was over. If you want a cruiser with grunt and a sporty look that will turn heads, get one! You will never look back.

Had the bike for 6 months. I have been riding for over 30 years. Bike handles great at any speed. Ride is great in city or on highway. I had electrical problems after one month. Started it after a bike night and no lights. It took two trips to the dealer for it to go away. Dealer simply reconnected all the electrical connections. It was probably just a loose wire from production. Gas mileage is very low. 32 to 35mph. Had it back to dealer, they keep saying it is adjusted properly. Probably the Double D 3.5" shotguns and the Dyna jet kit. I get compliments on the bike everywhere. Harley riders come over to admire the bike 'till they see Yamaha on the side. Love the bike and would recommend it to anyone

Yamaha_Road_Star_MY_OPINION

I bought a new V-Star 1100 in ’01. I kept it 2 years and traded for a Harley Sportster. Then got married and sold the Sportster because there was no room for my wife to ride with me. After looking at the price of the Road King and Fat Boy, I bought the 2005 Road Star Silverado. It is a great value for what comes with it. It has plenty of power for 2-up riding and it looks great. I have not had any problems, but I am going to replace the pillion seat. It is very hard and my wife is uncomfortable after only 15 or 20 minutes. My seat is fine for all day riding. I wish Yamaha would have given the same consideration in comfort for the passenger as they did for the rider.

Yamaha_Road_Star_MY_OPINION

I recently traded in my 650 V Star Silverado, which I put 6,000 miles on it in 6 months. I've only put 100 miles on my 1700 Road Star, I found the torque and power more than enough for passing and cruising. Easy to handle on cornering and comfortable on the highway. The wide range 5 gearing is a plus, no vibration in fifth gear at 75 mph.

Yamaha_Road_Star_MY_OPINION

I shopped around for a year looking and reading about Yamaha's, Harley's, Honda's and Kawasaki's and I always came back to the Road Star Silverado. The style, comfort and price was just what I wanted. I have had it for 3 months with no problems or regrets. This bike has plenty of power and the handling is awesome. You get plenty of looks every time you go out. The stock exhaust was too quiet for me so I added a pair of Hard Chrome 3" straight pipes. The bike now has the sound a cruiser should. I would recommend this bike to anyone looking to buy.

Yamaha_Road_Star_MY_OPINION

After reading many of the reviews posted on this website and spending almost six months looking at Harley, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha, I finally decided on the 2005 Road Star Midnight Silverado. I was particularly attracted to the standard hardbags and whitewall tires not to mention the 1700 cc. I am not an experienced rider and this is my first bike. I took the MSF safety course but was nervous about handling such a powerful bike. After 30 minutes of practice in the dealer's parking lot I felt confident enough to ride the 10 miles home where I rode some more. I have only 150 miles but enjoyed every mile. The sound has a nice rumble for stock exhaust and it handles very well at low parking lot speeds. It hints at power that I am anxious to try after the break-in period. I get stares and compliments when I park it. I may need to adjust the rear shock to soften the bumps, get a softer seat and will get additional accessories in the future. I will write a follow-up after I complete my break-in period and really test the performance.

Yamaha_Road_Star_MY_OPINION

I travel up to 20,000 miles a year on bike. The performance and comfort are great. The dealer services are great. Yamaha needs to go back to the drawing board on the engine. After 9 or 10 thousand miles, the engine has major problems that the factory cannot repair to stay. Every few months down time to replace heads or springs or something else major. Not all 1700s, but enough to be a major problem. I love the bike, but hate the engine.

Yamaha_Road_Star_MY_OPINION

This bike is truly a joy to ride. I've ridden all the big cruisers, and by far this is the best for my situation (height and weight wise). This bike is very comfortable and maneuverable in day to day traffic and highway riding. It does not put you in an awkward riding position nor does it tend to leave you fatigued after a day of riding. Plus, to top it off, it is a real head turner, simply a beautiful bike!

Yamaha_Road_Star_MY_OPINION

I traded in the Intruder 1400 for this bike. My wife and I like it a lot. It's so much more comfortable and the ride is excellent. I put on a pair of Vance & Hines long shots to bring out the 1700cc V-twin.

Yamaha_Road_Star_MY_OPINION

I bought my road star silverado midnight in august of 2004, and the only complaint i have so far is the seat is rather uncomfortable over long distances. The bike runs and handels great and has more than enougn power to spare. It also has a great ride, smooth and steady. My star continually gets complements on its' apearance and styling. The other day a rider came into my garage while I was cleaning my bike and asked "What year harley it was?" the look on his face was priceless when i told him it was not a h/d. Great bike, i would highly recomened this work of art to any rider of any skill level.
