I recentyly purcahsed a 03' SE Deuce. It is without a doubtone of the nicest bikes Ihave ever owned. Its fast and really well equiped right from the factory. I wish HArley would consider putting Vanc Hines pproducts onthere bikles. That would really make the softtails stand out!

Great bike. The only thiing bad about the bike is trying to find a stock frame

I'm not a huge Harley fan but this is by far the most beautiful and special Harley I've ever seen. I haven't ridden one this is just about what I've seen in a showroom. If you buy this you will not spend much on the aftermarket that is for sure all the pegs, grips etc. are awesome as they are. This is the one model of HD I think is well worth the big bucks-all 30K of them. The Cobalt Blue is beautiful. This bike is definately up there on my Lotto wish list.

Have rode with a few friends with the '03 100th Anniversary S.E. Deuces and finally got a chance to try one. What a bike. The big bore 1550 pulls good, sounds good (with pipes), and best of all is fuel injected. The ride is much better than my last bike and it handles well. The custom paint and chrome make this bike by far. The new 3 spoke chrome detonator wheels look awesome, the hydraulic clutch is smooth and the new spun aluminum tach and speedo look sweet especially back lit in red at night. It absolutely stands out all the time and draws tons of looks. There were some noticable defects on the bike right off the showroom floor, and that is why I gave it a 4, but H-D is working on correcting them for me. I gave a 4 on comfort as like with most bikes the stock seat is a tad stiff and the edge of the seat cuts into your leg when you drop it to the ground at stops. Luckily there were very few of these made so they should hold value very well. If you're looking for a custom looking Harley, look no further, this is one that is worth the tall dollar.

I purchased this bike in Nov '03. From the day I bought the bike it has been a show stopper. I have put over 11000 miles in less than one year. It has been very reliable and fires right up. Upon purchase of the bikes, I did two things, one is to put Vance and Hines long shots on the bike to give it the sound that I want. The Harley mechanic that I know suggested that the long shots take away horse power, but I disagree. I also like all the noise to be behind me, if you know what I mean. I was disappointed in that upon purchase of my bike, I was getting beat in drag races by a stock 1450cc FXSTDI. This pissed me off, so I had to purchase a DFO fuel kit and had the bike dyno'd. The biggest thing holding back HP was the back cover of the air cleaner kit was restricking air flow, upon removal of the blk/back cover, we gained 10 hp. I now pull 90hp and 98 torque to the rear wheel. The seat that orginally comes with the bike is great for show, but is impractical for the long rider. I have changed out the seat to a cruiser seat that has made the world of difference. Overall, I love this bike. It has been so much fun that I have lost of few girlfriends because of it.

The Deuce has a rigid mount 1450cc Twin Cam 88B™ balanced engine that is black powder-coated with chrome covers. The Deuce has a stretched tank, full-length chrome tank console, chrome front forks, chrome pull-back risers with low-rise handlebar, chrome fender supports with hidden hardware, laced front wheel, 17 in. disc rear wheel and 160mm wide rear tire.

I've made the decision to rent motorcycles as a method of determining which one is best for me to purchase. Based on my experiences attending rallies, riding with friends, and the feel of the bikes I've ridden; I am now riding Harley's exclusively. I like Harley Davidson motorcycles because they are accepted by everyone. I've ridden Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Yamaha, and a Victory. Some of the Japanese bikes are beautiful, ride well, and most are faster than the Harley. The Victory is a very nice motorcycle, and it's also American made, but it looks like a Harley and in my mind it's a substitute. Nothing else sounds like a Harley and no other bike gets the looks a nice Harley bike gets. Most of the the Japanese bikes also utilize shorter stroke engine with higher rpms, which deliver speed, but sacrifice the beautiful sound of a Harley Davidson motorcycle. The Softail Deuce is a nice bike. It rides well and handles well. It's not made for tight corners, but it's a nice ride. The one I had was fuel injected and it got decent fuel mileage; in the range of 50 mpg. I understand that there were some problems with fuel injected motorcycles in the past, but these seem to be put to rest now, and I do like this feature on the bikes I've ridden. There is no choking to be done, and the bike fires right up when you wait a few seconds after turning the power on to the ignition system before starting. When comparing it to some of the other Harley's out there this one isn't my favorite. The Softail Deuce has a stiffer suspension and you'll notice the bumps in the road more than on some of the other bikes (excluding the Sportster). While it's acceptable for longer rides, the Softail has a bit more vibration than the Dyna, the Road King, or the Ultra Classic series of motorcycles. The Softail I rode came equipped with Screaming Eagle pipes, and to be honest, I wasn't a fan. I think there are pipes out there that compliment the Harley sound much better than the Screaming Eagle exhaust. This is simply a matter of personal preference, but these pipes made my favorite bass rumble seem a bit tenor to me. While I have no major complaints about the Deuce, there are a few things I would change. The pegs were not forward enough for my tastes. I prefer to ride with my feet forward, and not directly down. The back pegs are in a bad spot and you can't raise the right peg to the up position with the Screaming Eagle pipes installed. I've heard that this is a common complaint, regardless of which pipes are installed. The seat was comfortable for one rider, and does suffice for short distances with a passenger. The stock seat is not suitable for long rides with a passenger. It should be noted that this bike overall is more of a weekend ride and not a serious long range cruiser. The best thing the Softail Deuce has going for it is it's appearance. This bike looks GOOD! It gets looks everywhere it goes and it's appeal is pretty universal. In my opinion, if you're looking for a weekend cruiser for great rides through the country, the Softail Deuce is an excellent option. However, if you're looking for a serious long range cruiser - see your dealer about a more comfortable bike.

I've recently purchased a Harley-Davidson Deuce (2002 model) with fuel-injection. I'm very pleased with my purchase of this bike. Although, it wasn't the one I'd planned on buying, I think I made the right choice. This is a brand new purchase, so it hasn't really been broken in yet, but as far as I can tell it's going to be a great motorcycle. It seems to handle very well in cornering and is very manueverable aside from it's long wheel base. The suspension gives the bike a very nice ride. I've got a low-profile seat on it, and it surprisingly rides very well! My wife even likes to ride on it (when she's not asking to drive it). It doesn't seem to be an uncomfortable ride for her as a passenger, even with the seat. I didn't give these bikes much of a chance for me to really like them when they came out, due to the rear fender. I thought it looked, kind of, odd. Since I've purchased the bike, the look of it has really grown on me. As for the engine, it hasn't been broken in yet, so I don't know much about that aspect of it. It seems to be a pretty strong engine, and well- balanced, it doesn't seem to have much vibration to it. The fuel-injection on this model is a pretty cool option, it reduces the spitting and sputtering of cold start-ups. The only thing that I don't like about the injection is that if you upgrade the engine or exhaust, you have to have the computer "re-mapped", and that will cost you some money (approx. $150.00)! One thing I can say, negatively, is that the factory should've put a louder exhaust on it, due to the break-in period. They want you to break-in the engine by not exceeding a certain engine RPM range, but when you're riding through the air, you honestly cant hear the exhaust to tell how hard you're revving the engine (no tach on this model). If not an exhaust change, then they should make the tach a standard option. Another thing that I, personally, don't like about the exhaust system is that you can't fold up the rear footpeg due to the top slip-on muffler being in the way. And, although the mufflers may not get that hot, if you add slip-on mufflers that do, there's a possibility that the rubber from the footpeg will melt on the exhaust, making a black mark on the pipes. Which is a pet-peeve of mine! If you're looking to buy a Harley give this model a good look. It has a lot of features on it that are only on this model. These features include the wider (160) rear tire, stretched tank, rear fender, and the beautifully chromed front-end (forks). It really makes for a great-looking motorcycle! Don't miss it like I almost did, buy it! They also offer a special flame and marble paint job that I purchased for $2500.00 that looks really cool!

This is my 25th motorcycle, but my first Harley, over the last 35 years. I could not be happier with the bike. The biggest suprise was the superior handling. I've never owned a bike that "tracked" so well through a turn. The balance is extraordinary even a walking speed. The quality of the chrome, the fit and finish of parts, the paint, and reliability all exceeded my expectations. The fact that it is such a beautiful bike is icing on the cake. I have fuel injection and thus the temperature control system--it performs flawlessly. I have never been happier with a motorcycle and wish I had gotten to a Harley years ago...I just couldn't afford one until recently. The prices of Harleys are too high although I did pay MSRP right off the showroom floor. (my price shown is with 2-tone paint, EFI, security system, taxes, plates. That is, it's my out-the-door price) I think the parts and service prices are even more ridiculous. Although another reviewer said a "reflash" is $150, my dealer was also at $149.95 for the ECM, but that does NOT include the labor (another $175 to reflash and install the breather kit). And few realize that the dealers KEEP your ECM when they program the stock one. But I'm getting too much into "The Motor Company" and away from the bike. The bike, in a word, is outstanding. I guess the best way to explain my feelings is that when I'm riding on my 2002 Deuce, I ENVY NO OTHER BIKE OWNER...PERIOD!
