I have a 2007 K-9 with about 600 miles on it; it has also spent more time in the shop then the road. I had to take it in because the alternator when out. After spending two weeks in the shop it only took two days for the alternator to go out again. Now I am being told that the computer may be bad as well. Spent 30k for a bike that I am afraid to drive just because I do not want to be stuck on the road.

Big_Dog_Motorcycles_MY_OPINION

I own a 2004 ridgeback. it is by far the worst investment of my life. have spent over $600 this month already only to ride 60miles. last year it spent more time in the shop than it did on the road. lots of electrical problems. repreplacing the computer as we speak. last week the ignition module. . save your money get a harley.

Big_Dog_Motorcycles_MY_OPINION

I bought a 2004 Mastiff a little more than a year ago and I have to admit that I am not a very satisfied rider. After only a couple hundred miles the bike began to chug as if it were out of gas. I had it in the shop and was told it was my accelerator pump that was obstructed but was now clean. After two more cleanings it seems i need to tear the carburetor aprt after each ride. I have to say .. the bike looks damn good, though!

Big_Dog_Motorcycles_MY_OPINION

I own a 2004 chopper, and i love it. i think it is as fast and sharp as hell. i have just expierenceed my first problem with it. i think it is electrical, i need some input to try to troubleshoot myself, has anybody had any electrical problems?

Big_Dog_Motorcycles_MY_OPINION

I won a 03 Mastiff and it sucks. 1900 miles in 3 years. 700 miles of that is coming and going to the shop. You can call me anytime. I will never byy another one of this make. 734 586-8096

Big_Dog_Motorcycles_MY_OPINION

What kind of chickenshit site is this? You post "complaints" and "opinions" about a company but you don't post the names or email addresses of any of the complainees. This is totally illegitimate and furthermore it is unquestionably libel. I’d bet over half of these complaints are from one disgruntled customer of theirs. I’m sure Big Dog’s legal team would love to hear about this so I am going to forward this website to them personally. I happen to own a Big Dog and it has been by far the best ownership experience of my life. Harley doesn’t even come close to the quality of a Big Dog motorcycle. I’ve owned a half dozen Harley’s before I bought my Big Dog Bulldog and quality-wise the two companies aren’t even close.

Big_Dog_Motorcycles_MY_OPINION

I"ve had owership of a 2004 Big Dog Ridgeback for fourteen months. During that time it has averaged being in the shop once a month for warranty issues not including five scheduled maintenance. I have logged 11,000 miles at this time. It has been in the shop more than 45 days. My opinion is that Big Dog Motorcycles and customer Service Sucks!

Big_Dog_Motorcycles_MY_OPINION

My name is Eddie Ferguson and I am 61 years young. I purchased a 2004 Big Dog Ridgeback from a dealer in Virginia Beach. To make a long story short, my relationship with my Big Dog is "Bitter (Lemon)- Sweet (Bike"). The problems ranges from Leaks to Squeaks. If anything could go wrong, it did..My license plate reads LEMON.

Big_Dog_Motorcycles_MY_OPINION

Hello, Just a brief review of my brand new $26,000 2001 Big Dog Prosport. The one word to describe my ownership experience is "problems"... oil leaks, starter problems, carb problems, fuel reserve problems, overall quality problems. 31 of my first 45 days of ownership were spent at the dealer for repairs. I finally had to threaten legal action against Big Dog to get them to take it back. Of course at a couple grand loss to myself. I did it without hesitation just to get the lemon out of my garage. Oh sorry, my dealer's garage. This was without a doubt the worst vehicle purchase I have ever made. I can't believe I paid $26K for this experience and sold a beautiful 2000 Road King for this lemon. The saving grace to this whole nightmare was that I was able to get my order in for the new V-rod. That bike really delivers! I've had the V-rod for several months and could not be happier. Note to reader, fore told is fore warned.

Big_Dog_Motorcycles_MY_OPINION

Put 12K on Big Red over 2003. Only mechanical problems were blown head gaskets which were replaced no problem by Big Dog and my local dealer, and a faulty key latch (not fun looking down and not seeing your key in the lock!) also fixed no problem. I get positive comments on every ride. Stripped down, it’s a fine looking and quick bar bike. Bagged up, its good for 700 miles in a day and you can still stand up and feel all your extremities. High quality fit and finish well thought out. Would be nice if BD was a little more open about where all the parts came from.

Big_Dog_Motorcycles_MY_OPINION

I sold a 2002 Softail for a 2003 Mastiff. It should have just been called stiff. This bike will just shut down when you’re riding. It's been in to the dealer more times then I would care to admit. It’s not the fact that the bike break's down, it's the fact that the dealer is incompetent, rude, and won't fix it. He tells me it's normal. Don't sell Your Harley, Honda, or scooter for this thing.

Big_Dog_Motorcycles_MY_OPINION

I have owned my '04 Big Dog Ridgeback since May of 2004 and wouldn't give it up for the world. I have only owned sportbikes including Buells and this is the best ride I have owned. I have the passenger peg set on it and the wife has riden on it for 80% of the miles racked up so far. I have had a few warranty repairs done on it, but Big Dog stands behind these bikes like their mother! Awesome company to work with. I looked at many other bikes including a Titan Sidewinder Chopper Soft Tail that cost $10,000 more than my Big Dog and it didn't ride or handle as well as the ridged Big Dog chassis. High quality components and raw power! I have 2 friends with Big Dog Soft Tail Choppers and from what I can tell the ridged has almost the same ride quality as the softy.

Big_Dog_Motorcycles_MY_OPINION

Just purchased the all new '05 RidgeBack,I have clocked around 500 miles so far and "Wow" what a bike! I was a little hesitant of the rigid frame, but with the 300mm rear tire, the ride isn't that bad. Obviously this bike isn't the best pick for the long haul, but great for the limited time I have to ride. One other thing I wanted to mention about this bike is the "Fit and Finish" of high end quality parts Big Dog has choosen to use. I was impressed to see the majority of all the hardware is stainless 12 point or allen head. I did hours upon hours of research of all the leading "affordable" bikes currently on the market, hands down, Big Dog's got it!

Big_Dog_Motorcycles_MY_OPINION

Just hit 5000 miles on my black '04 Ridgeback with the 117 motor and I'm still loving it. Chicks dig it, old people are scared of it, and Harleys can't keep up with it. What more could a guy ask for?

Big_Dog_Motorcycles_MY_OPINION

The 2004 Ridgeback is my very first bike, my initial impression was positive, in all respects. Then, the unforeseen happened, the motorcycle started to Stall in traffic! Aferward, I was unable to restart the Big Dog. I was reduced to pushing my huge investment down the road. The worst part was that, Big Dog Motorcycle's customer service sucks, also their authorized dealer/service center was useless when it came to solving the problem. I still love the bike but feel that I have made a great mistake! The HEC computer and tac board were replaced and the bike runs good for now, who knows when it will go south again or what it will cost me after the warranty has ended. I paid cash for the bike in April 2004 and at present, I have rode it 7,689 miles. I am 61 years young and I don't have the time to play around with the rest of my life!

Big_Dog_Motorcycles_MY_OPINION

Had more money in each HD I owned, then what this cost and I can spot this one in a crowd. 2000 miles in 2 months, no problems. The 6 spd tranny is great and the 107ci is all one needs. Attention to detail is outstanding. Once you ride one, your hooked...

Big_Dog_Motorcycles_MY_OPINION

The big dog husky is my first street bike and I could not be more happy. My friends talked me out of a HD, because the big dog already had everything on it! Once the bike arrived I was even more impressed! Oh what a ride!

Big_Dog_Motorcycles_MY_OPINION

This is a great handling, powerful, and beautiful machine. I can't take it anywhere without people asking about it. I've ridden plenty of the "fat tire" bikes and if you don't know any better they're o.k. (I guess it's more important to look beefy from behind than to really ride for some guys,) but the 180 on the rear of this bike gives you a machine that can do it all. Balance is great as is the layout. Get over the fad of having a big, fat, back tire and ride a real bike.

Big_Dog_Motorcycles_MY_OPINION

I have spent the last 6 months looking at bikes. HD, Indians, customs, etc. After I test Rode the Husky it was all over. It was the last 03 on the lot and the 04's just arrived. If you are looking for a complete bike with chrome, power, and appeal than this is it. I bought it for myself on my birthday and have never regretted a moment since. Sometimes I just wander into the garage and just stare at it! Every man needs a bike like this. The price was right with all of the customizations already done. Reward your self with one of these serious machines today!

Big_Dog_Motorcycles_MY_OPINION

Before I start, preface it to say, I waited until I had over 5000 miles on this machine to even consider writing a review - given that, here it goes... Sure it corners a little wide - for goodness sake it is a chopper (in every sense of the word) not a Yamaha 125! And there is some vibration - Sort of like a Fatboy on Steroids. Rode it around, broke it in, cornering seems to have become less of a problem and I seem to have forgotten (or worked out) the majority of vibration. Once break in miles were complete, I decided to go to Ft. Bragg, NC to visit my brother. What a trip!! Left Tulsa, OK to Baton Rouge on first day 600+ miles, then to Atlanta, Myrtle Beach, Fort Bragg, Philadelphia, Louisville, KY, and back to Tulsa. 3917 total miles. I had to tighten a couple of bolts but besides that - no problems. I have only great things to report. Riding from 50 - 110 mph is as smooth as any bike I have ridden. Beyond 110, gets a little windy. If you get the chance to experience a humid afternoon drive along the gulf coast during love-bug season, with a hang-over - you need to do it. If you are looking for serious powerhouse, you can stop here. For style, speed, and only a modicum of posterior discomfort, look no further. The biggest problem I had was getting to my next destination within my allotted time. This was not due to the bike, well maybe, the problem was that no matter where I stopped, somebody was asking if they could check it out. People aged 5 to 87; extremely attractive women, burly truckers, and particularly other bikers, all seemed to want to see it. I even had to give rides to a few ladies. Yep, life sure does seem tough with a Big Dog Chopper on the road (and a Harley in the garage). Anybody know somebody looking for a good, low- mileage Heritage Springer?

Big_Dog_Motorcycles_MY_OPINION

My bike runs good but has a ping when you give it some gas. The lifter block is leaking the belt squeaks after you go about 15 miles. And no matter what I do it squeaks, clean belt, adjusted etc. nothing makes it stop. My speedometer/odometer just went crazy. In 5 miles it showed 12000 miles. It's turning as fast as the tach. This is my third production custom and they all have problems. I have had 4 H-D's and not one problem. So what's the problem Big Dog??

Big_Dog_Motorcycles_MY_OPINION

I expected more when I bought this very expensive Chopper. Having ridden Japanese motorcycles for years, I had thought that this was a step up. Boy was I wrong. Just about everything you can possibly imagine has already happened on this motorcycle. From engine problems to electrical to drivetrain, it's gone wrong. The dealer has told me that you have got to expect these things with any American v-twin. I say no thank you, and if this is what you get when you buy American, you can have it.

Big_Dog_Motorcycles_MY_OPINION

I was impressed with the quality of this Chopper's components and paint. I rode 150 miles with ease and no fatigue. The bike ran well except for the oil filter vibrating loose and seeping a little oil. This was easily fixed by tightening it up. So far my only complaint is for myself being long legged, I will extend the foward controls for more comfort.

Big_Dog_Motorcycles_MY_OPINION

My bike got dropped off Dec 5, 2004, rode for 30 miles, I go yesterday to lead an organized ride and my bike won't start. Bad starter... what b/s, bike is not even a week old. Towed to dealer yesterday... $200 later (out of my pocket). My brand new $30,000 motorcycle shouldn't have these problems. I couldn't find out much about these problems, otherwise I would have gone somewhere else. Second largest V-twin company to Harley doesn't mean anything. I've owned a Harley for years, and never had this problem with a dealer or my bike. I hope this helps anyone looking to buy a Big Dog. Bike looks great, would be even better if it ran. Sharpen up the tools in your box Big Dog, or it will be a tough year.

Big_Dog_Motorcycles_MY_OPINION

So far, I have been very pleased with my '04 Chopper Dt. I have logged 500 miles with no problem. As of right now, I have a small leak coming from around the oil filter or the hoses that connect them. I feel this will be taken care of when I bring it in for the 500-mile check up. The bike has been a dream so far, and as far as vibration, it doesn't have near the vibration as my Harley Fat Boy did. I am Enjoying It.

Big_Dog_Motorcycles_MY_OPINION

Little things are coming up just about every 500 miles. Big Dog fixes them, but my dealer is 2 hours away. It's getting old real quick.

Big_Dog_Motorcycles_MY_OPINION

I just purchased my new Pitbull. I only have 150 miles on it so far as the weather won't allow more right now. The bike rides nice though. I'm getting tons of attention. When turning I notice due to the wide 300 rear tire you have to lean a little harder to get the bike to turn over. But that's okay, I'm in no hurry, but it is something to anticipate when going into turns. Of course it's a hard tail so expect to get jarred once in awhile. I notice that some bumps in the road can throw you if you're not ready

Big_Dog_Motorcycles_MY_OPINION

I love my Big Dog Pitbull. But if you have a bad back this bike might not be for you. This head turner really grabs the road and has more power than I can consume, like anything else, there is tradeoff. Your Kidneys. I'm still getting used to how to minimize the bone jarring bumps by cinching up in the seat. I have aftermarket pipes on it now and it sounds awesome. Like an outboard motor on a boat. Bad da bah, Bad da bah, Bad da bah. All in all I really love my bike and am looking forward to many bike rallies. I just purchased my new Pitbull. Emptied out the local Harley Davidson Dealership when I pulled up as everyone came to check out my bike. Getting a lot of thumbs up from strangers on the road. I'm getting ready for bike week. I can't wait to ride it every day. I did have to replace the battery already. The positive post melted for some reason. My dealership will take a look at the bike and mention they may replace the battery free of charge. Will update that info.

Big_Dog_Motorcycles_MY_OPINION

Just got my 2005 Big Dog Chopper a couple weeks ago, and I already have about 640 miles on it. Would have more if the weather cooperated. The bike handles very well, especially for being a Chopper. My previous bike was a 2001 Harley Dyna Wide Glide, and the only thing I miss about the Harley is the lack of vibration. The Chopper does pretty well as Big Dog has tighter specs on the engine than S&S does, resulting in less vibration. With the 6 speed transmission you can usually get the RPM's down to a level that minimizes the vibration though. The only problem so far has been a broken exhaust shield clamp, which is not affecting the riding and is being fixed by the dealer. My only complaint is that I wish the mirrors were the convex type, as convex ones would probably make the vibration less noticeable, and the stock non-convex ones make it look as if I'm looking thru a magnifying glass at the car behind me.

Big_Dog_Motorcycles_MY_OPINION

MY BIKE WAS OUT OF THE SHOP FOR ABOUT 200 MILES AND THE MOTOR STARTED CLICKING. BACK TO THE SHOP TWO HOURS FROM MY HOUSE. THEY SAID IT WAS THE PRIMARY CHAIN. THEY DIDN'T HAVE ONE AND SAID IT WOULD BE 3 WEEKS TO GET ONE. I PICKED ONE UP FROM MY LOCAL HARLEY DEALER AND HAD THEM PUT IT ON. THEN THEY SAID THAT IT WAS STILL MAKING THE SAME SOUND. AND THEY HAD TO CALL BIG DOG. STILL WAITING. I LOVE THE BIKE BUT IT'S IN THE SHOP MORE THAN I RIDE IT. I WAS GOING TO GET A RIDGE BACK BUT I THINK I'LL GO BACK TO SWIFT. THEY HAVE NEVER BROKE ON ME AND THEY LET ANY GOOD V- TWIN DEALER WORK ON THEM.
