Important Tips for Buying a
Used Harley Davidson
Motorcycle Online |
If you
can't afford to buy new, take a look at these tips for buying a
used Harley
Davidson. If you've checked around, you know that brand new models cost as much as luxury automobiles! So even if you don't have the financial means to buy a brand new
Harley, you may be able to get a good deal on a used one.
We've put together these tips for buying a used Harley Davidson to help you along the way. Here goes:
.
Tip #1: Know the Product
Probably the most important of the tips for
buying a used
Harley Davidson is to know the product. A Harley Davidson is a great motorcycle, but throughout its 100 year history, many different versions of this all-time favorite have been developed, each with its own unique set of features and specifications. And because this motorcycle has been around so long,
you'll find a wealth of information for you to research. In fact, the Internet likely has all the information you need right at your fingertips.
Tip #2: Compare Prices
Once you've become familiar with the various models of
Harley Davidson, gather up the pricing guides that focus on motorcycles. With the knowledge you gained from tip #1,
you'll be better able to determine what's a good deal and what's overpriced. But dont stop there. Another thing to take into consideration is the price and availability of spare parts.
You'll need them sooner or later, and you should have an idea of what to expect as far as repair costs are concerned.
Tip #3: Kick the Tires
Another of the important tips for buying a
used Harley Davidson is to arrange to see the motorcycle in person. Pictures may look pretty, but remember that
what you see is what you
get. Unfortunately, pictures may not show you all you need to see to make an informed purchasing decision. You should always try to take a close look at the motorcycle including its wiring, the condition of its tires, the frame and handlebars for signs of rust or prior involvement in an accident, the drive belt, drive shaft and the chain. In addition to a visual inspection, start the motorcycle and take it for a ride. It should start easily and ride comfortably. Check that things like lights, blinkers, gas tank lids, brakes, kickstands and mirrors are working properly.
Tip #4: Get a professional opinion
Even if you know everything there is to know about every Harley Davidson ever made, it never hurts to get another opinion. Love is blind and if you fall in love, you may inadvertently overlook or pay little attention to the negatives of the bike. Ask someone you trust like your mechanic to help and listen to what that other person has to say before making your purchase.
And there you have it,
Four simply yet important tips for buying a used Harley Davidson that may take some time to complete, but that may save you a lot of time and money later on down the road. |
